I love walking but it can be difficult to meet the same enthusiasm amongst my nearest and dearest. I can generally find a willing companion to enjoy a coffee and a leisurely stroll around the local park or riverside, but sometimes I crave a heartier stomp, something a bit more rugged and wild. In recent years, I’ve completed a handful of day hiking challenges for charity, one down on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, another along Hadrian’s wall in Northumberland as well as a Thames Path challenge.
