Whispers from the chair

H recommended Westwell wines in Charing, Kent. Here you can book a 2 hour vineyard tour and tasting for a very reasonable £28 with the option to add on cheese and charcuterie plates to snack on. There is also the option to book a picnic for 2 or 3 people including a selection of locally sourced meats, cheese, salad, olives and baked goods, plus a bottle of Westwell Ortega 2023 or Pelegrim NV, a heavyweight, canvas, screen printed tote and two branded Westwell wine tumblers for you to take home. Alternatively check out their suggestions on places to eat & stay nearby after a tasting!

G tipped me off about Table & Candle, the new restaurant in town (just for the weekend!) A pop-up series bringing guest chef’s and their 6 course tasting menu’s to neighbourhoods in London, Surrey and The Netherlands. You can read more about the concept here. Dates sell out fast but there’s a wait list you can join too. The most local of venues acting as a hosting site appears to be Boulangerie Jade on Upper Richmond Road.

To read the rest including the best dishes, drinks and restaurants I’ve enjoyed lately, what’s been going in my shopping basket and tasty tips and titbits, you’ll need a paid subscription.
