I’m a nature girl through and through. I love being outdoors and am rarely happier than when there is a canopy of emerald leaves over head or rolling green hills under foot.
Even my yoga mat is green, which on some sub-conscious level may have been a choice made to feel more grounded to the earth. (Totally recommend this mat by the way! It’s the sticky yoga mat from Yogamatters).
There’s no shortage of evidence to support the fact that nature is healing.
In the 1980’s in Japan the term shinrin-yoku or ‘forest bathing’ first emerged, a type of eco-therapy where consciously connecting the senses with the sights, smells, sounds and touch* of the forest was proven to help encourage relaxation, lower stress and improve concentration and memory. It has continued to become a vital part of preventative healthcare.
