Pyjama Post #17
Dreaming of Devon, a new pod unpicking the messy realities of modern day life and an omniscient nutritional resource
Every other Sunday I’ll bring you a short but sweet, pick and mix, of things worth sharing from the fortnight gone by, lists and links, delivered to your inbox ready for a lazy, morning scroll while you’re still in your PJ’s. It’s free to read.
Sunday 6th April
Good morning! I hope you have had a great week!
I’ve just returned to work after a mini break to Fife on the East coast of Scotland and yes, you bet, I am currently writing up my stay and fave foodie finds which I’ll be sharing here very soon.
In the meantime,
This weekend, I wish I was waking . . .
At :
The Bull Inn Totnes. This one has been on my wish list a while! Situated in the South Hams in Devon it’s very foundations built on substance and style. 9 beautifully designed bedrooms, 1 self-catered 4 bed apartment across the road and an organic restaurant. Owner Geetie Singh-Watson opened the first certified organic pub in the world in 1998 (how brilliant!) and this approach and commitment to a philosophy of ‘doing business better’ has carried on into the creation and running of The Bull.
In :
This pretty, soft sage honeysuckle linen pyjama set, with Morris & Co fabric, by Piglet in bed. Currently on sale! Monogramming available too.

Good things of note from the last fortnight . . .
The Weird Years Podcast from Lydia Vornweg dives into the the big, weird and messy realities of career, relationships, health, identity and more. You can listen to the intro here. Aimed at a slightly younger demographic than my 40 year old self (late 20’s/30’s seems to be more the general target audience) I can still relate to some of the topics being discussed and have been enjoying tuning in to new episodes, which drop each Tuesday. The one with Zoe of The Vibe Education was what initially caught my attention because I love following her (if you’re a small business owner definitely check her out - she offers Intuitive Business Coach & Energetics for female entrepreneurs)
I just stocked up on my all time favourite Aromatherapy Associates bath oil, on sale for just £6! The mini size is great for travelling and taking away on hotel stays, plus helps with the relatively short, shelf life of these oils once opened. I defy anyone who has trouble sleeping, to stay awake after a lovely, long soak in this absolutely wondrous product! You should get 3 heavenly baths from 1 of these little bottles as they are very concentrated. Spectacularly hidden on the website (I think this is surplus stock leftover from Christmas) but I’ve included the link here to make them easier to find. Prepare for your entire house, pyjamas, bed sheets etc to become permeated with the scent and enjoy the best night’s sleep of your life!
On Friday, my friend gifted me The Science of Nutrition, The Sunday Times Best seller by Rhiannon Lambert and I have spent most of the weekend with my head in it’s pages, geeking out over how and why our bodies respond to the food choices that we make. Asking questions such as: Should I eat less meat and more fish? What’s the difference between pre- and pro biotics? Is there a limit to how much weight I can lose? What does plant-based actually mean? and is it always healthier? Can I eat to boost immunity/support the ageing process/guard against dementia? Providing clear answers backed up by the latest research, this book helps to debunk diet myths and give you the knowledge and confidence to plan your own individual approach to nutrition. Highly recommend!
Yesterday we took a jaunt over to Camberwell for lunch (high praise to The Camberwell Arms dining room! I’ve been wanting to eat here for years and it did not disappoint!) En route we stumbled upon Lala Books, a brand new indie book shop, housed in the space that was formerly Grove Lane Deli (an eye catching, historic building with original, curved, Victorian windows). With the same owners as before, they continue to serve coffee alongside a great selection of titles. They clearly have maintained a legion of loyal fans, all congregated on the street outside, perching on the pavement, enjoying a caffeine hit in the Spring sunshine, while inside the vibe was buzzy and very friendly.
Chatter from the chair . . L recommended You Are Here, One Day author David Nicholls’ newer novel which follows two strangers as they take on a 10 day coast to coast challenge and find love along the way. T and I discussed My Brain: After the Rupture a fascinating documentary about Broadcaster and Musician Clemmie Burton-Hill and her road to recovery following a brain injury, it’s absolutely worth a watch!
