Every other Sunday I’ll bring you a short but sweet, pick and mix, of things worth sharing from the fortnight gone by, lists and links, delivered to your inbox ready for a lazy, morning scroll while you’re still in your PJ’s. It’s free to read.
Sunday 1st June
Ahh Sunday. Hope you’re waking to a restful one. I’m enjoying a morning coffee and prepping for a day of facials ahead. The sunshine is peeping out over the rooftops already, it looks set to be another scorcher!
This weekend, I wish I was waking . .
At: Harbour View House, St Ives. Minimalist rooms, a restaurant serving up fresh Cornish seafood and seasonal farm produce and a philosophy that “embraces a slower pace—sunrise swims at Porthminster Beach, relaxed days by the water, and peaceful evenings that leave you feeling fully refreshed.” Yes please!
In: Oversized Shortie Pyjamas in pink stripe by Their Nibs.
Whispers from the chair . .
Did you see that Richmond is about to welcome a Free People store?! (on the site of ex Little Dobbies/ old Top Shop)
I received some GORGEOUS Coral Charm peonies at the salon last week, they are so pretty and change colour from bright pink, to peach to cream over the course of a couple of days, just like magic! Get them from Amanda’s Flowers stall in Richmond outside of Jo and the juice (Though usually in limited supply, you can message Jeff ahead on Intsa first to check stock before making a trip to the stand)
Local Hero in Teddington has started ‘lates’ on Fri & Sat eves from 5-11pm. For espresso martini’s (obvs) mojito’s, negroni’s and margs!
Good things of note from the last fortnight . .
I’ve been eyeing up so many pretty pieces from Agapee.
Went to see the new Salt Path movie yesterday at Olympic Barnes (where else?) I think those who have read the book first will enjoy it most. It was on my reading pile during cancer treatment back in 2018 and I found it to be an endearing tale, a few months later I ended up walking some of the same trail - the bit around Lulworth Cove - whilst taking part in a charity trek. The writing got some flack but the story is undeniably beautiful (if slightly bonkers!) I enjoyed the nature cinematography, the wild and unpredictable elements that they endured and the moving portrayal of their love for each other against all odds.
A visit to Olympic Studios Records always follows a film if I’m with P, vinyl for him and more often than not, a new fragrance discovery for me. This time a chat with Roger lead me to discover Road Trip by Side Story and wowee I’m in love! The most comforting and cosy of scents, it feels more well suited to Autumn/Winter but I could honestly wear this all day, everyday as a second skin. Went home and ordered a handbag sized mini immediately. They also offer a discovery set.
The Texture Spray from Maria Nila has become a firm favourite of mine in salon, perfect for dressing out soft, beachy waves and creating second day, lived-in movement. It’s a brilliant dupe for Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray and costs less than half the price!
Sub Love . .
A number of people I’ve been chatting with lately have been feeling a bit overwhelmed/not quite themselves.
