Every other Sunday I’ll bring you a short but sweet, pick and mix, of things worth sharing from the fortnight gone by, lists and links, delivered to your inbox ready for a lazy, morning scroll while you’re still in your PJ’s. It’s free to read.
Sunday 15th June
Good morning lovely ones, I hope you’re enjoying a gentle Sunday morning.
It was a week where I decided to make a return to posting on Instagram after a 2 month break, albeit with a new vision of how using the app works best for me now.
In the simplest terms I enjoy it as a marketing and advertising tool for business and for networking locally but here on Substack is where I feel happiest sharing more in depth what lights me up and makes me tick.
If you receive these fortnightly Pyjama Posts and enjoy them, please might you consider sharing with your nearest and dearest to help this space to grow? Thank you!
Also, do remember, that if you are a salon client (hair or facials) you are entitled to a juicy 50% saving off an annual subscription which means you can have access to every single pay walled post, (plus the archive) for an entire year, for just £25! Message me if this interests you and I will send you a link to upgrade.

The Swan Inn Fittleworth, West Sussex.
Freshly inspired by the girls at This Time Last Week (always a brilliant resource for restaurant and hotel inspo) The Swan looks like it boasts all of the attributes that make a dreamy, country village stay - old world charm paired with new world comfort, stylish rooms, a delicious menu and plenty of scenic routes nearby to walk off lunch afterwards!

S tipped me off about Parfum Le Dance, nestled in one of the charming lanes off Richmond Green, a boutique ‘‘space where perfume lovers can come together and share their love for scents.’’ Founder Derya opened the physical store in March after beginning with a web shop and has curated ‘‘a selection of high-quality, carefully selected, niche perfumes that reflect both artistry and individuality.’’ If you are looking for something a little different it’s well worth popping by!
Rin Matcha has opened in Richmond. I’ve never really boarded the matcha train but I am interested in the health benefits. I tried it for the very first time when Bridge & Hill Living store still had their cafe and the very kind Barista took her time to talk me through the options of how it could be prepared and even gave me a couple of variations to taste test. Honestly, I didn’t like any of them very much but I so appreciated her sharing her knowledge! I popped into Rin to try again. They serve up premium matcha from Japan so at least it should be a fairly authentic offering. Same verdict, I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it. Next time I want to try the Hojicha which I was told might be preferred by coffee drinkers. A darker tea with a nutty flavour served sweetened with brown sugar.
I had the joy of reconnecting with lovely local Naomi Aka Swim Run Yoga Girl, a yoga teacher for everyday athletes. Naomi offers 1-1 yoga, and/or running to support training, recovery and to mitigate injuries. She also hosts group classes in Teddington, Hampton and Kingston. We had a good old natter about the benefits of holistic practices and movement to support body and brain for general well-being. Naomi also writes a blog and you can find her on Instagram here.

Good things of note from the last fortnight . .
Essie’s new gel couture polish. I’ve never been a nail girl, as working with hair means my hands are in and out of water all day and can be prone to staining when removing hair dye (no matter how hard I try to avoid this!) I need to be able to remove and refresh a polish quickly and also be able to cut and file my nails at a moments notice for when I’m doing facials. So pro gels have never been an option for me. This 2-step system however, applied as a regular nail polish then top coat, without the need for a UV lamp, is formulated for 15 day wear with patent-pending Flex E Gel technology to resist chipping! I opted for a milky pink neutral in ‘Sheer Fantasy’ for a recent wedding (so much easier to freehand paint a neutral and make it look half decent!) After just 1 day back in the salon though, it’s stained and I want it OFF! Ha, but it can continue to live on my toes at least!
As the Season Turns podcast by Ffern. While selecting podcasts to listen to on a recent train ride back home to Newcastle, I happened upon As the Season Turns by Ffern (Ffern fragrance) In particular I enjoyed listening to the monthly Found Sounds episodes with
. Alice, a Musician, Sound Artist and Field Recordist, travels across the Uk ‘‘to meet people inspired by heritage crafts, folklore and the landscape, creating a sonic scrapbook of their practice.’’ A calming listen. While everyone flocks to Paris for the Hockney exhibition, there’s an immersive installation that has caught my eye, Clinamen by Celeste Boursier-Mougenot. A multi sensory experience taking place in the rotunda of the Bourse de Commerce, where a water filled basin is topped with multiple floating, porcelain bowls of varying sizes, that drift and repetitively collide at random intervals thanks to gentle movement by invisible currents. The result is a soothing, chiming melody and an invitation to sit and pause.
